Team bonding in Witten; sharing the ArtE program best practice

In March 2020, all partner teams for the latest iteration of the Erasmus + ArtE program (“ArtE-the Art of Employability”) travelled to Witten in Germany to participate in the initial staff training event, a wonderful oppportunity to share best practice and learn from the more experienced partners in the program. The program is based on the JobAct® theatre methodology – which addresses disadvantaged people and fosters their social inclusion with a combination of theatrical education and social work. Read more about the approach in the blog post: Introducing the Erasmus + program “ArtE-the Art of Employability.

Through theatrical work, participants acquire competences in communication and interaction, as well as personal and social skills, underpinned by creative theatre approaches to boost their self-confidence. JobAct® projects actually taking place on stage. The sense of achievement by developing a successful stage play, leads to a long lasting trust in one’s own capacity.

The aims of the 5 day training session in Witten were:

  1. to experience the JobAct theatre methodology theoretically and practically
  2. to share experiences from its implementation in the Mediterranean region by the Italian partners
  3. to develop reduced evaluation and dissemination concept
  4. agree on how to create a blog/vlog as a project diary

After the first kick-off meeting of the project in the end of November 2019, this was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to meet again in person, experience the theatre training for themselves and share best practice. The core of the project, is the pilot projects – so all partner organisations were provided with the necessary know-how for the initialisation and implementation of the pilot projects. To increase creativity and in keeping with the spirit of social art, many of the sessions involved live theatre exercises. The result was many beautiful and creative moments during the week, cementing the relationship between the partners and preparing them to deliver the pilot projects in their respective countries.
